Did you know that in our independent brewery in Bavaria, beer is still brewed by hand? Clear spring water from the Lengenfeld fields activates the barley juice. The fine, bottom-fermenting yeast gives the beers their exquisite taste. For us, the purity law is not only an ancient tradition but the principle underlying the success of our high-quality brewing tradition. Only the best from nature finds its way into our brewing kettles where our master brewers combine the ingredients to create a unique blend, after all, brewing beer is an art that we have successfully dedicated ourselves to for almost 400 years.
Kupfer Spezial – the star at Winkler Bräu
It is hard to believe that our award-winning speciality beer, the Kupfer Spezial, was created as early as 1975 when Hanns Konrad Winkler made a mistake during the malt kilning process thus creating the first brew of a special beer, the Kupfer Spezial. The following year, the cover of the malthouse chimney was renewed. The copper roof helped the Kupfer Spezial get its name. Once you have had a taste of it, it is hard to find another beer that is equal to our Kupfer Spezial in finesse, body, and a variety of flavours. Kupfer has a cult following!

Our awareness of natural flavours and state-of-the-art brewhouse technology is the result of large-scale conversion and modernisation measures throughout our brewery. The greatest care in purchasing the ingredients and a slow, open fermentation give our beer specialities their unique taste, which can only be found in small breweries nowadays.
